Our Story
The story of Hotel El Atardecer began in the 1990s, when Rosita Jiménez arrived in Monteverde with her youngest daughter, Cristina, driven by the dream of building a better future in this land full of nature and opportunity. For several years, they managed a rented hotel, learning the hospitality business, welcoming travelers, and dreaming of a place of their own.
That dream became a reality in 1997, when Rosita purchased her first property in Santa Elena. With hard work, dedication, and perseverance, she began building Hotel El Atardecer with just three rooms. As more guests arrived and the hotel gained recognition, it continued to grow, eventually reaching the 21 rooms that welcome visitors from around the world today.
Today, the hotel is located just 8 minutes from the center of Santa Elena, offering a comfortable, peaceful, and family-friendly atmosphere, perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring the area.
Cristina is now the General Manager, and together with her daughters, she continues the family legacy, preserving the warmth and hospitality that have always defined the hotel. Rosita, now 74 years old, remains a strong and hardworking woman and still supports Cristina in the daily operations of the hotel, serving as the heart of this story.
